Introducing The New Track Stick

Track Stick Reading Guide

Finally Put A Number On How Sticky The Track Is

The Track Stick is the fastest and easiest way to measure how sticky the track is, and it’s small enough to fit in your pocket! We all know that a stickier track changes how your car launches and that effects both your drivers R/T as well as your 60′. And until now, there was no easy or convenient way to know what the track condition was like besides walking it and seeing how much your shoes are glued to the track. With the track stick we can finally put a number value to it, learn how our car reacts to changes and then apply it to win more rounds.

Track Stick - Finally put a number on how sticky the track is - Drag Racing Traction Measuring Gauge Device

The Track Stick utilizes a recessed plunger, ensuring that regardless of who uses the device, they’ll get the same reading. When you push down onto the racing surface, the spring loaded track plug is recessed ensuring that it can’t be over pushed into the surface and only the spring pressure is applied. This leads to consistent readings within the same groove by different people and tools.

Our easy recall is bright red for easy viewing and is recessed into the tube so the reading won’t change if you put it in your pocket. To reset the gauge, simply slide the red recall to the top and use the device as shown below. Once it breaks free of the track, follow the top of the recall over the scale and determine how sticky the track is.

The Track Stick was developed out of a need to better understand how the track prep effected our Jr. Dragster. Running the PDRA circuit we were exposed to a wild variety of track prep conditions from basic bracket prep to running after multiple rounds of pro mod. And we found that no track prep we were on the verge of spinning, normal track prep we were fine and then really good prep would actually lock the car down and slow the driver reaction time and 60′.

A junior dragster is obviously going to be more sensitive to track prep changes than your typical bracket racing car or dragster. But anybody that runs heads up knows that you can only put down enough power for the track surface to hold, any more and your race is over. Having a number value works so much better than judging how sticky your shoes are and with a number value you can start to learn and apply more aggressive tune ups based on what the track can handle.
