Description
With the DataMaxx Engine Saver Kit you get everything you need to help tune and protect your engine. You can monitor Engine RPM, Driveshaft RPM, Transbrake, Oil psi, Water temp and 8 Exhaust Gas Temperatures. This allows you to know exactly what is happening inside that engine and if you are pushing it too hard. When we are looking at our data after our pass, the majority of it is spent looking at the Engine & Driveshaft lines and then the 8 EGT’s, so with the Engine Saver Kit, you get everything you need to take your tuning to the next level with room to expand. And with the DataMaxx Pro Dash you can customize warm up and launch screens to ensure the driver sees the right information at the right time.
DataMaxx Pro Dash
If you want the ultimate in customization in a sleek and recessable dash then the DataMaxx Pro Dash is the perfect fit for you. Easily swipe between multiple pages for warming up the car to a screen specifically geared towards launching the car. With our easily customizable gauges you can set target levels and warning lights to optimize your launch. For water temp, set the min of the sensor to a value that you want the car to be at before going into the burnout box. Then set the ideal section for the range you desire and if the needle is in the green and 12 o’clock, you’re good to go, and then the warning to make the gauge background go red if it goes over a certain temp. The possibilities are endless and customization is simple, allowing you to put the right information in front of the driver at the right time. With the ability to mount on a panel or to recess it makes more versatile to mount and give your cockpit and instant improvement.
Engine & Driveshaft
One of the most important graphs you will look at, and one that will be used the most is the graph of the Engine and Driveshaft rpm. If there are inconsistencies in the run, this is where they will be exposed. By overlaying multiple runs you can truly see the difference changes make, or identify inconsistencies and try to improve them. There are plenty of times where the car can spin the tires at the hit and the driver not feel it, but it is noticed in the r/t and et of the run. With the ability to overlay you can make changes and then confirm you have a more consistent launch. If your transmission is not shifting into gear or your converter is wrong for your setup, you won’t be able to know for sure unless you are looking at a detailed Engine RPM graph. From launch rpm’s in footbrake cars to shift points to seeing how hard you played the finish line, the Engine and Driveshaft graph will be one of the most important and looked at.
Oil psi & Water temp
The first step in protecting your engine is ensuring that you have both oil psi and are not overheating the entire thing. These are the basics and seem like a no brainer but how many people with gauges know exactly how low their oil pressure gets at the top end? And you might have glanced at the water temp gauge and it was around where you want it but how high did it get waiting on the other guy to stage? You may know what the oil psi and water temp is, but you don’t have data that you can really utilize. With the oil psi sensor, not only can you make sure you have pressure at the top end but by having the data to compare easily you will realize that you can tell if your oil is getting old and thin based on the pressure. And with water temp, by keeping track of the water temp the instant of launching the car you can help identify why some runs are faster or slower, because of how hot the engine is, and then Learn from it to make your program better.
All 8 Exhaust Gas Temperature
If you are pushing your engine hard, running heads up or have fuel injection, you are crazy to not monitor each and every cylinder. The first benefit is trying to prevent catastrophic failures. Seeing a specific cylinder all of a sudden get hotter than it usually does is a clear indicator there is a problem and you need to investigate. If you are running mechanical fuel injection, the ability to fine tune the fuel system for each cylinder based on temperature leads to a much more harmonious and consistent engine. And if you are running heads up or pushing your tune up hard for qualifying, 8 EGT’s allows you to push hard without hurting anything and staying in the race.
DataMaxx Software
What is the point of having all of this data if you don’t ever use it? With the DataMaxx software program we make viewing your data as easy and user intuitive as possible. You have the ability to separate sensors into different zones so that you can highlight certain aspects and even save up to 5 custom views. The DataMaxx software will automatically zero your runs based on either transbrake or driveshaft movement and our Overlay 2 and Overlay All buttons allow you to quickly compare data at the push of a button. Made by racers for racers, the DataMaxx software allows you to Tune By Data, Not By ET Slip.
